Adoption Appeal: Mimi Deserves a Loving Home for Whatever Time She Has Left

At Catcuddles we know just how special and beautiful black cats are, and on #blackcatappreciationday we want to tell you about Mimi.

When cats come into our lives they each teach us so much no matter how much time we have with them. We are sharing Mimi’s story in the hope this reaches her forever home, not for the sadness of her circumstances, because Mimi brings us joy each day and we owe it to her to celebrate her life and find her a special home where she can live out her days in comfort.

Mimi came to Catcuddles after a member of the public told us about a stray they had been feeding during lockdown who they believed to be pregnant.

We came to realise that Mimi was older than estimated (at least 10) and it was not pregnancy that made her stomach very large, but fluid retention. After medication, tests and scans, we have received confirmation that Mimi has heart disease. Mimi is now on medication for heart failure that she readily takes twice per day. The fluid retention is now much milder, however her condition means her life expectancy is estimated to be a few months to approximately two years.

We say this about all our cats because it’s true, but Mimi is truly a sweet, lovely girl who will happily sit in your lap. She does enjoy spending time outside so we would prefer that the option of a garden remains for her in a safe location, away from busy roads.

Mimi dearly deserves to find a loving, settled home to live out her remaining time comfortable and happy and we are determined to find that special home for her.

We are seeking a special person willing to offer Mimi last adoptive home who is able and willing to give Mimi the medication she needs twice daily and who is financially comfortable to support a cat with an existing health condition. Mimi needs a home without other pets. We want nothing more than for Mimi to enjoy her remaining time - whether that's weeks, months or years - in the comfort of a loving home where she'll be pampered and happy. Please contact us if you are that big-hearted person willing to offer that to Mimi.

Mimi is being fostered at our SE London hub in Abbey Wood, SE2. With social distancing measures in place, it will be possible for Mimi’s prospective adopter(s) to visit her, so you do need to be in travelling distance to visit.
